  • Establishing Biomarkers and Clinical Endpoints in Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 (END-DM1)

    Building on previous work of the Myotonic Dystrophy Clinical Research Network (DMCRN), the present study seeks to overcome insufficient data on natural history; lack of reliable biomarkers; and incomplete characterization and limited biological understanding of the phenotypic heterogeneity of Myotonic Dystrophy 1 by examining strategies to improve the reliability by making further refinements in our sample collection and analysis procedures by developing strategies for managing patient heterogeneity going forward.   • Pitolisant on Excessive Daytime Sleepiness and Other Non-Muscular Symptoms in Patients With Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1

    The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of pitolisant compared with placebo in treating excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) in patients with Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 ages 18 to 65 years. The secondary objectives of this study are to assess the impact of pitolisant on fatigue, cognitive function and the burden of disease along with assessing the long-term safety and effectiveness of pitolisant in patients with Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 ages 18 to 65 years.
